Enable the region's largest hyperscale data center with 100% renewable energy, cost predictability, and high traceability, without relying on fossil fuels to support AI workloads
Omnia, a hyperscale data center platform invested in by Pátria Investimentos funds, was created to meet the growing demand for digital infrastructure capacity and efficiency — driven especially by cloud, artificial intelligence, and high-performance computing. Its first project, the Pecém Data Center, will be designed to be the largest hyperscale undertaking in the region.
To sustain an operation of this scale, OMNIA needed energy cost predictability, reduced exposure to free market fluctuations, and 100% renewable energy with high traceability and additionality — essential conditions to ensure that the advancement of AI workloads would not depend on fossil fuels.
Self-production with equity participation in wind projects in Ceará and Piauí. Up to 300 MWm and approximately US$2 billion, for the Pecém Data Center
Omnia and Casa dos Ventos signed the largest renewable energy self-production contract ever established for data centers in Latin America. Through the self-production model, OMNIA became a partner in Casa dos Ventos' generation assets, directly accessing the energy produced.
The agreement, valued at approximately US$2 billion, establishes an energy purchase contract with an estimated volume of up to 300 average MW, sourced from wind projects in Ceará and Piauí. Casa dos Ventos was responsible for the development, operation, and management of these generation ventures, while OMNIA acts as the developer, investor, and operator of the Pecém Data Center — and also as a self-producer, with equity participation in the generation ventures.
Energy self-production allows us to combine scale, predictability, and sustainability in a single strategy. By internalizing part of the generation and ensuring the use of renewable sources, we strengthen the energy resilience of the Pecém Data Center and make concrete progress on our decarbonization agenda, meeting the demands of global clients for increasingly efficient and low-carbon digital infrastructure.
Says Rodrigo Abreu, CEO of Omnia.
The largest renewable self-production contract for data centers in Latin America: approximately US$ 2 billion and up to 300 MWm of 100% renewable wind energy
- Around 300 average MW of contracted renewable energy;
- 100% renewable energy projected for the consumption of the Pecém Data Center;
- Estimate of more than 20 thousand direct and indirect jobs throughout the construction and operation phases;
- Strengthening of the Pecém Complex as a strategic hub for energy and digital infrastructure;
This agreement reaffirms Brazil's potential as a destination for the technology sector, driven by one of the most competitive renewable sources on the planet. Our differential is to convert the abundance of Brazilian natural resources into low-carbon digital processing [...] we apply our expertise in wind generation, transforming the potential of winds into 'green bytes' for export, positioning the country at the forefront of the new digital economy.
States Lucas Araripe, executive director of Casa dos Ventos.
