OMNIA Data Centers and Casa dos Ventos sign the largest renewable energy self-production contract ever established for data centers in Latin America. Through this business model ("self-production"), OMNIA will become a partner in Casa dos Ventos' generation assets and will directly access the energy produced, representing a strategic milestone for the development of the Pecém Data Center.
The agreement, valued at approximately US$2 billion, establishes a power purchase agreement with an estimated volume of up to 300 average MW, sourced from wind projects in Ceará and Piauí.
Among the advantages of structuring the agreement are the high predictability of energy costs and reduced exposure to free market fluctuations, while strengthening the operational competitiveness of the Pecém Data Center.
Furthermore, by ensuring large-scale energy supply, the initiative directly contributes to OMNIA's decarbonization goals, by guaranteeing that the Pecém Data Center's consumption is met by 100% renewable energy, with high traceability and additionality in generation. This approach strengthens the integrity of the company's climate strategy and positions the venture in line with global best practices for sustainability, also ensuring that emission reductions are effective and measurable.
Another relevant point of this partnership is its regional impact: the development of the Pecém Data Center, combined with the implementation of wind projects, is expected to boost the economy of the Northeast, with the estimated creation of over 20,000 direct and indirect jobs throughout the construction and operation phases of the ventures, in addition to stimulating new investments and strengthening the Pecém Complex as a strategic hub for energy and digital infrastructure.
More than building one of the largest ventures in the sector on the continent, OMNIA positions itself as a developer, builder, and operator of a new generation of digital infrastructure in Latin America, by integrating scale and energy efficiency with renewable sources, guaranteed by Casa dos Ventos.
For OMNIA's CEO, Rodrigo Abreu, the model represents a structural advance for energy-intensive operations:
Energy self-production allows us to combine scale, predictability, and sustainability in a single strategy. By internalizing part of the generation and ensuring the use of renewable sources, we strengthen the energy resilience of the Pecém Data Center and make concrete progress on our decarbonization agenda, meeting the demands of global clients for increasingly efficient and low-carbon digital infrastructure.
Park Operation
With estimated investments of R$4 billion in the implementation of the wind farms, Casa dos Ventos will be responsible for the development, operation, and management of these renewable energy generation projects, while OMNIA, as developer, investor, and operator of the Pecém Data Center, will also act as a self-producer, ensuring consumption with equity participation in the generation ventures.
"This agreement reaffirms Brazil's potential as a destination for the technology sector, driven by one of the most competitive renewable sources on the planet. Our differential is to convert the abundance of Brazilian natural resources into low-carbon digital processing, ensuring that the advancement of Artificial Intelligence does not use fossil fuels, as we observe in other markets. In synergy with our partners, we apply our expertise in wind generation, transforming the potential of winds into 'green bytes' for export, positioning the country at the forefront of the new digital economy," states Lucas Araripe, executive director of Casa dos Ventos.
The project stands out for its combination of scale, exclusive use of wind power, and integration with one of the country's main industrial and logistics hubs, setting a new standard for energy supply to large-scale digital operations in Latin America.
About OMNIA
OMNIA is a hyperscale data center platform created to meet the growing demand for capacity and efficiency in the digital infrastructure industry, especially driven by cloud technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), and high-performance computing. Funded by Pátria Investimentos, OMNIA focuses on developing large-scale Data Centers in Latin America, offering cutting-edge infrastructure capable of supporting intensive computational loads. Its first project, the Pecém Data Center, will be the largest hyperscale undertaking in the region, with 200 MW of capacity. The project prioritizes sustainability, with operations expected to be 100% powered by renewable energy in partnership with Casa dos Ventos, in addition to advanced low-water consumption cooling solutions with closed-loop water reuse circuits. The company will help consolidate Latin America as a strategic hub for the new digital economy, meeting global technology demands.
