Grow rapidly without giving up clean and predictable energy
Ascenty is the largest data center and connectivity services provider in Latin America — a company of the Digital Realty and Brookfield group, with 38 data centers in operation and/or construction in Brazil, Chile, Mexico, and Colombia, interconnected by 4,000 km of proprietary fiber optic network.
The data center sector has been growing at an accelerated pace, driven especially by artificial intelligence and high-performance workloads, which demand increasingly robust energy infrastructure. To sustain this regional expansion, Ascenty needed supply predictability and a decarbonization strategy compatible with the growth rate of its operations.
Our partnership was based on the complementarity of renewable energy sources, supply robustness, and a long-term vision.
Highlights Lucas Araripe, executive director of Casa dos Ventos.
Self-production with participation in two ventures and over 1.4 GW combined
Casa dos Ventos closed a deal with Ascenty for a self-production contract, establishing Ascenty's equity participation in two Casa dos Ventos projects totaling over 1.4 GW of installed capacity, with operations expected to begin in 2027.
This initiative represents the strengthening of our decarbonization strategy. The combination of renewable energy sources and the security of a long-term supply offers greater predictability for the growth of our operations across Latin America.
Says Christopher Torto, CEO of Ascenty.
The combination of different renewable sources in the contract enhances Ascenty's operational flexibility and contributes to more robust energy planning throughout the agreement's term. The project was advised by Clean Energy Latin America (CELA).
For us, working with clean and renewable energy means enabling new digital capabilities. By aligning energy efficiency with technological innovation, we lay the groundwork for our data centers to scalably support the potential of artificial intelligence, driving advanced solutions for clients and strategic sectors in the region.
Christopher Torto reiterates
Over half a billion dollars in renewable energy for Latin American data centers
- Over US$ 500 million in contract value;
- 110 average MW of renewable energy supply;
- Over 1.4 GW of combined installed capacity across the two projects;
- Reinforcement of Casa dos Ventos' position as a leading energy supplier for the data center sector.
