Casa dos Ventos has entered into a partnership with World Climate Service (WCS), a specialized platform for climate data visualization and analysis. The goal is to increase predictability and security in the management of its energy trading operations. The three-year agreement integrates a new high-tech solution into the company's analytical ecosystem.
The tool, which shares the name of its provider, consolidates data from leading international institutions such as the ECMWF (European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts) and NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) in a standardized and integrated format. This solution enables climate analysis on a sub-seasonal scale (up to 45 days) and seasonal scale (projections for the following months).
Tailored for Casa dos Ventos' trading operations, the platform allows for monitoring climate conditions across Brazil, with a specific focus on the country's major hydroelectric basins. Key features include the rapid identification of historical periods that mirror projected scenarios, contributing to higher precision in analysis and decision-making.
"Adopting a tool with this level of climate intelligence reinforces our commitment to data-driven and increasingly efficient management. Improved accuracy in precipitation forecasts directly contributes to risk reduction and more consistent energy price projections," says Itamar Lessa, Trading Director at Casa dos Ventos.
