Casa dos Ventos, a reference in renewable energy and a protagonist in Brazil's energy transformation, and Ascenty, the largest data center company in Latin America, have just closed the largest renewable energy contract under a self-production model for data centers in Latin America. The agreement, worth over half a billion dollars , provides for the supply of 110 average megawatts (MWa).
The contractual model establishes Ascenty's equity participation in two Casa dos Ventos projects. Both are under development, with operations expected to begin in 2027. Together, the projects total an installed capacity of over 1.5 GW.
For Casa dos Ventos, the partnership reinforces the company's advancement in the data center segment, a market that is growing rapidly and demands clean, stable, and long-term energy solutions. The agreement consolidates the company's presence as a leading energy supplier for this sector and strengthens its role in Brazil's energy transformation.
"Ascenty operates in a sector that is at the heart of digital transformation. Providing renewable energy through this agreement highlights Casa dos Ventos' role in supporting new infrastructure and innovation demands in the country. Our partnership was based on the complementarity of renewable energy sources, supply robustness, and a long-term vision," emphasizes Lucas Araripe, executive director of Casa dos Ventos.
The configuration of the agreement, with different renewable sources, expands operational flexibility and contributes to Ascenty's more robust energy planning over the contract term. The partnership with Casa dos Ventos will enable the company to avoid the emission of approximately 5 million tons of CO2 in the coming years.
"This initiative represents the strengthening of our decarbonization strategy. The combination of renewable energy sources and the security of a long-term supply offer greater predictability for the growth of our operations throughout Latin America," says Christopher Torto, CEO of Ascenty, who was advised by Clean Energy Latin America (CELA) on this project. "For us, working with clean and renewable energy means enabling new digital capabilities. By aligning energy efficiency with technological innovation, we create the foundations for our data centers to scalably support the potential of artificial intelligence, driving advanced solutions for clients and strategic sectors in the region," concludes the executive.
