2026 Partnerships for Nature Call for Proposals opens applications for ecological restoration projects in areas of hydrological interest
Casa dos Ventos is now accepting applications for the 2026 Cycle of the Partnerships for Nature Call for Proposals, a private and voluntary initiative that financially supports socio-environmental projects focused on conservation and environmental restoration.
This call for proposals focuses on the protection and recovery of water resources in water-stressed territories, through nature-based solutions. Proposals must center on the ecological restoration of springs, water recharge areas, and riverbanks, with the planting of native species from the Caatinga or Cerrado biomes.
Each selected project may receive up to R$ 50,000 for its execution.
An initiative that is already generating results in the territories
In 2025, the Partnerships for Nature received 86 applications and 50 submitted projects, of which five were selected. The cycle also included over 80 participants in training workshops.
The supported initiatives reached three municipalities in Rio Grande do Norte and Bahia: São José do Campestre (RN), Lajes Pintadas (RN), and Morro do Chapéu (BA).
To date, the projects from the 2025 Cycle have contributed to:
- the planting of over 7,000 native seedlings;
- approximately 5 hectares in the process of restoration;
- over 1.5 km of fencing;
- the recovery of 11 springs or riparian forest stretches;
- the mobilization of over 200 people.
Who can participate in the 2026 Cycle
Legally constituted organizations in Brazil that meet the requirements set out in the call for proposals, including regularity, integrity, and compliance, may submit proposals.
Eligible entities include:
- Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) that are non-profit;
- cooperatives classified as CSOs, provided their statutes prohibit the distribution of net surpluses to members;
- governmental organizations, such as Municipal Executive Powers or Secretariats, upon meeting legal requirements and obtaining authorization from the Attorney General's Office.
Institutions must also have at least one employee and a bank account linked to their CNPJ (National Registry of Legal Entities).
Individuals, for-profit companies, members of the 'Sistema S' (Brazilian social services and professional training system), or organizations and projects of a political-partisan, religious, or discriminatory nature are not eligible.
Where projects can be carried out
The 2026 Cycle includes projects carried out in municipalities in the states of Bahia, Ceará, Piauí, Rio Grande do Norte, and Mato Grosso do Sul, with priority given to areas of influence of Casa dos Ventos' ventures.
Water recovery as the focus of proposals
In this edition, the planting of native species seedlings from the Caatinga or Cerrado should be the central activity and have the largest budgetary representation in the proposals.
Vegetation restoration must be directly related to water resource conservation and may include actions in:
- springs;
- water recharge areas;
- Permanent Preservation Areas (PPAs);
- riparian forests;
- margins of water bodies.
Proposals must present technical information such as the area to be restored, quantity and origin of seedlings, species used, planting period, maintenance plan, need for fencing, monitoring indicators, and continuity strategy.
Items that can be included in the budget are the acquisition of native seedlings, inputs, area preparation, planting, replanting, maintenance, fencing, supplementary irrigation, and technical assistance.
Resources cannot be primarily allocated to the purchase of vehicles or equipment, civil works, events and conferences, media production, real estate acquisition, academic research without practical application, or political-partisan activities.
How projects will be evaluated
The technical evaluation of proposals considers six aspects, with different weights:
- Relevance and adherence to Casa dos Ventos' strategy;
- Technical quality of restoration;
- Socio-environmental impact and replicability;
- Investment efficiency;
- Proponent's capacity;
- Counterparts and complementary actions.
Support of up to R$ 50,000 per project
Each selected initiative may receive up to R$ 50,000, with payment made in two installments. The release of the second installment will be conditional on the submission and approval of accounts related to the first payment.
Workshops support proposal development
To support interested organizations in the development and technical structuring of their projects, the 2026 Cycle will feature in-person training workshops in the covered territories, between August 17 and September 8, in addition to a virtual workshop on September 9, 2026.
No prior registration is required to participate in the training sessions. Access will be directly at the indicated locations or via the broadcast link, which will be announced on official channels and social media.
