Founder and CEO
With a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (ITA) and extension course from Harvard Business School, Mário Araripe is the sole shareholder of the Fundo Salus (Fund Salus), the controller of Casa dos Ventos. In addition to the investment in energy, the Fund operates in the textile sector through Textil União and Companhia Valença Industrial and real estate through approximately 180,000 hectares of rural properties in Brazil. Mário was also responsible for the foundation and sale of several companies such as Construtora Colméia, which, while under his management, was one of the largest real estate developersin the Northeast of Brazil and Troller Veículos Especiais, a genuine national car manufacturer.
Director of corporate development
With an MBA in finance from IBMEC and masters in Administration from Universidade Federal da Bahia, Clécio Eloy joined the Grupo Salus in 2001 and is Director of corporate development for Casa dos Ventos. Previously, he worked as director of the Banco do Estado da Bahia (BANEB) and Desenbahia, where he held the position of Development and Planning director.
Project and New Business Director
Bachelor of Business Administration from Insper, with specializing courses in European Business School and Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi, Lucas Araripe is in the company since its foundation. Actively participated in the exploratory campaign that culminated in the identification of the largest portfolio of wind projects in Brazil. Works in project development, from its conception to the early construction stage. Lucas Araripe is also involved in the structuring of new business, leading constitution of partnerships and mergers and acquisitions with other industry players.
Bachelor of Business Administration from Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV-SP) and with an MBA from Columbia Business School, Ivan Hong is CFO at Casa dos Ventos since 2015. Prior to joining the company, he was a founding partner at Lakeshore Partners and was involved in the Financial Department of Brazilian vessel company Sete Brasil. Ivan also accumulated experience in Project Finance at Santander and ABN Amro and Invesment Banking at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
Director of Supply Chain
With an MBA from Columbia Business School and a degree from the University of Michigan, Virna Araripe joined the group in 2003. Before joining Casa dos Ventos, she worked as director at Companhia Valença Industrial. She is currently Director of Supply Chain, responsible for the relationship with equipment suppliers. Virna led negotiations with several wind turbine manufacturers, including the largest contract in the history of General Electric in Latin America.
Director of Wind Resource Assessment
Edson Zaparoli obtained his undergraduate, masterss and doctorate in Aeronautical Engineering from Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (ITA). He has 35 years of experience at ITA´s Departamento de Energia as an associate professor, working in research and supervision of postgraduate students. Among his main working fields are: CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics), fluid flow and heat transfer and atmospheric flow for application in wind energy. As a teacher and researcher, Edson published 15 full papers in journals and 139 full papers in conference proceedings, supervised 41 dissertations and 8 doctoral theses. Edson Zaparoli joined Grupo Salus in 2010 and is Director of Wind Resource Assessment at Casa dos Ventos. Zaparoli still acts as teacher and mentor to postgraduate students at ITA.
